New guide for energy-efficient buildings

The Atlantic Construction and Transportation Journal
Efficiency New Brunswick has released a new guide to make it easier to design and build energy-efficient commercial buildings.
Energy Minister Jack Keir introduced the ‘Core Performance Guide, Efficiency NB Edition’ in Saint John at a training session for engineers and architects.
The minister, who is also responsible for Efficiency NB, said the guide would help “small and medium commercial buildings reduce their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions while helping them improve their competitiveness."
Developed in co-operation with Natural Resources Canada and the New Buildings Institute, the guide lays out a simplified prescriptive path approach to Efficiency NB's Start Smart New Commercial Buildings Program. It lists proven ways to make small and medium buildings energy efficiency without requiring undertaking energy modeling and simulation.
